Healthy and Wellness Kitchen

If health and wellness are at the forefront of your mind, the need for a healthy kitchen may be taking center stage. Kitchens in the past were at the back of a home away from the people who lived there. Primarily for safety reasons and because of the heat and chance of fire. However, from mid 70’ to now, there has been a trend toward the kitchen being the center of the home. In a recent survey by The National Kitchen + Bath Association, kitchen sizes are more prominent, with extra features to promote a healthy lifestyle.

Details that Matter

Before the pandemic, you may have never used your kitchen. However, now a healthy, functional kitchen is essential. More people are gathering for meals, and more food prepping is happening. The trend for open designs, highly efficient appliances, and a peaceful place to relax with your family are essential features of a kitchen. A healthy and wellness kitchen would promote social interaction with your family and friends. Kitchen islands are getting larger with generous seating away from the work triangle.

Minimalism is trending in kitchen design, with minimal clutter and a place for every kitchen accessory. For example, adding a beverage bar is terrific for moving the traffic flow away from the kitchen's busiest areas. Likewise, the noise should be minimized for a peaceful environment, with quiet, dishwashers, and overhead exhaust fans.

Extra Features

Keeping the kitchen uncluttered has opened up an opportunity to move some of the working appliances to the pantry. As a result, you are freeing up the space in the kitchen. If you have never thought of it before, a refrigerator in the pantry is perfect for extra food storage, with some models having a freshness feature that will extend the life of your fruits and vegetables.

Technology has entered the kitchen too. Having remote access to your appliances frees up time. Imagine just getting in bed and realizing you forgot to turn the dishwasher on. With an app on your phone, you can control the start time.

Cooking with an induction stove top is 40% more efficient than electric. In addition, induction is safer and easier to clean. An important feature if you have small children. Also, it boils water extremely quickly.
