Mixing Metals
As an interior designer, people ask me one of two questions. First, where do you find all these great pieces for your client's homes? And second, is mixing metals okay? To answer the first question, I shop a lot and have a terrific memory. For the second question, mixing metals can be inspiring and exciting for your Decor.
What you need to Keep in Mind
All the metal elements in any design should feel balanced with the color scheme and flow of the room. For example, in the photo below, we have a brushed nickel clock and mirror, end tables with bronze leg details, and a champagne-framed artwork. The coastal art pulls the flow together, with gold for the bronze, beige for the champagne, and white for the brushed nickel.
Places where mixing metals look great
Mixing Metals in a bedroom design is a great place to start. For example, the overhead lighting can be a mix of metals. This chandelier in nickel with brass looks terrific together. Likewise, the artwork's bronze frame and the champagne console are different metals that work together beautifully.
