5 Ways To Invest in Your Home that add Value

Are you looking for a way to add value to your home? As an interior designer, I can guarantee that your environment influences how you feel in your home. In other words, when your home feels comfortable, it affects your mood and health. Therefore, an investment in our home will pay off in that you and your family will enjoy it for the time you live there, and if selling is in your future, any improvement will add value to your home.

1. Brighten Your Home

Brightening your home is not just about turning on a few lights or opening the blinds. First, update your paint color with a high "Light Reflectance Value.” For instance, a color's Light Reflectance Value (LRV) measures the amount of visible and usable light that reflects from or absorbs a painted surface. Simply put, LRV measures the percentage of light a paint color reflects. In addition, using a paint color with a higher LRV will bring brightness to the darkest room. Also, use colors in cooler tones, e.g., blue, gray, mint green, crisp whites, and pink.

2. Add Some Plants and flowers

Don't you love that feeling of being outdoors? With the sun on your face and a warm breeze in the air. Wouldn't it be wonderful to bring that feeling inside? Bringing plants and flowers into your home is one of the healthiest ways to live and the easiest ways to add a sense of nature to your home. When styling an interior design photo shoot, we look for local greenery as a botanical arrangement. Updating your front entry with new landscaping and flowers will also improve curb appeal.

3. Update Your Lighting

New LED lighting will make any space feel brighter, cleaner, and more inviting. Also, it’s energy-saving and since the lights last so long there are fewer bulbs to change. Updating your overhead lighting with a new LED chandelier will give you a fresh look in any space.

4. Renovate Your Kitchen

You can update and refresh your kitchen for a new look with minor renovations, such as new countertops and backsplash, a fresh coat of paint, and new cabinet hardware. On the other hand, a significant kitchen reno could mean updating cabinets, replacing appliances, or designing a new layout to improve functionality. Either way, you will add value to your home.

5. Add a Closet System

Having an organized closet system is a game changer. First, imagine your clothing and everything stored in its rightful place. A closet system is a perfect way to keep your clothing, shoes, and handbags organized—having a location to see your clothing helps you get dressed in the morning, where you can see all your clothing choices in view and arranged.
